How to Give | Long Island Community Foundation
Menu
We can help you make the most of your philanthropy—whether you’re updating your will, selling a company, memorializing a loved one, or simply streamlining your charitable giving. Our specialists can help.

WE MAKE IT EASY…

You can give cash (online or a check by mail). Also: publicly traded stock, retirement plan assets, closely held stock, and life insurance. We’re experts in working with charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts, and dissolving private foundations into funds at the Long Island Community Foundation.

You can also increase what you give if your employer offers matching gifts. Matching gift programs can often double or triple the impact of your contribution, and some companies even match gifts from spouses and/or retirees. Please check whether your company has restrictions on the kinds of contributions they match.

YOU DECIDE THE TIMELINE…

Do you want to start a fund for giving today? Or defer your gifts through a will or planned giving vehicle? We have funds that allow you to do either—or both.

FIND YOUR FAVORITE WAY OF GIVING

UNRESTRICTED FUNDS

Would you like to fund thoughtful, creative approaches to Long Island’s problems? We’ve developed an expertise in identifying community needs as well as the nonprofits that can help. Your unrestricted fund allows us the flexibility to identify and address our region’s challenges.

FIELD-OF-INTEREST FUNDS

Are you passionate about education, human rights, the arts, or something else? You can direct that your gift be used to address the issues you care about through a Field-of-Interest Fund.

DESIGNATED FUNDS

Do you want to support specific organizations or programs? A designated fund with LICF will do just that. It also ensures that your gift remains relevant over the years.

DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS

With a donor-advised fund, you and anyone you appoint as an advisor can easily recommend organizations to receive grants.

If you are interested in a type of fund that is not listed here, please contact Donor Services.
